Today, we would love to introduce to you: the Shiftphone! Made by a passion-driven start-up in Germany, the Shiftphone is, unlike most phones, eco-friendly in many ways, while maintaining a sleek, clean and elegant design. Here’s why the phones are sustainable: For the production, they work together with fair and safe mines and have an office in china, where they assemble the phones. There, the workers have amazing working conditions, unlike anywhere else in china. It’s actually more sustainable to get that done in China, since most pieces are made there anyway.⠀
Now here’s the coolest part: The products are designed to be modular, which means, that every user can easily repair their phone themselves, without having to pay much for the replacing parts. This is also a great way to optimize your phone, if you aren’t happy with, for example, the current camera. However, if you really want to get rid of your phone, you can send it back to them, you will receive money back and they will try to reuse as many parts as possible. Other parts are being recycled.
We really feel like Shiftphones are sustainable in every part and have a great future ahead. They even have all the details on where their money goes, how/where the different parts are being produced, online and available for everyone! Hopefully other brands are inspired by this and will act similarly in the future as well.
